Welcome to our weekly newsletter!
This year has been unpredictable to say the least as geo-politics have created worrying uncertainty. But sport has continued to entertain us.
YOUR RECAP
Last weekend was lucrative for many patient punters. South Africa smashed India in the ICC Men’s T20 Super 8s. Perhaps they can break their World Cup hoodoo and take the title? They lost two years ago in the T20 final to India and are looking hungry for gold. Meanwhile England will try to upset the odds and beat the hosts in the semifinals on Thursday. The Stormers were ravaged by The Lions in the United Rugby Championship (URC) 24 10 which weakened their hunt for a knockout spot later in the competition.
The English Premier League (EPL) is meanwhile nearing its business end. Liverpool smashed relegation threatened West Ham United while Brighton, Fulham, Manchester United and Arsenal all won 2 1 on Sunday.
Locally the PSL is a tight tussle between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. Pirates embarrassed Kaizer Chiefs 3 0 on Saturday night.
YOUR UPCOMING MATCHES
We have a rich mix of events to analyse including football, cricket and Formula One.
Amid midweek English Premier League matches, South Africa will face New Zealand in the T20 World Cup semifinals and then, this weekend, the FA Cup resumes. The Formula One season also starts this Sunday and promises to be electrifying. We have collated some good bets to help you pay for your beers this month.
Remember, never bet your rent money and that sports betting is a form of entertainment. Always gamble responsibly!
Here are your betting tips:
English Premier League
TUESDAY

Aston Villa vs Chelsea
Aston Villa offers strong value against an inexperienced Chelsea
Unai Emery is a far more experienced manager than Liam Rosenior is. While Aston Villa has struggled in recent weeks, they have been strong at home for some years now. Expect the team to bounce back after Friday’s loss to Wolves and give a Chelsea with an assortment of young talented players but not enough leaders problems.
Take – Villa to win
IF you’re feeling brave – Ollie Watkins to score
WEDNESDAY

Newcastle United vs Manchester United
Newcastle United may be in a slump but recently they have given Manchester United numerous nightmares. They will be primed to bounce back after a crushing defeat to Everton FC last weekend.
Over 3.5 goals
Anytime goalscorer: Harvey Barnes
Premier Soccer League
Sundowns vs Golden Arrows
Sundowns to win at a minus one handicap, Iqraam Rayners to score
Mamelodi Sundowns needs to keep up with a rampant Orlando Pirates as they push for yet another PSL title. Iqraam Rayners is SA’s best striker (sorry Lyle Foster) and Hugo Broos will be watching.
Cricket
South Africa vs New Zealand
South Africa to win
South Africa is baying for blood having lost to India in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final. The Proteas beat the cricket mad nation in the Super 8s and will look to do so again in the 2026 final. Expect SA to smash the Black Caps.
THURSDAY
India vs England
India to win, Jasprit Bumrah to be the top bowler
India is the best T20 cricket team in the world until they lose to South Africa in the final. They should have enough to beat a lightweight England at home.
FRIDAY
FA CUP
Wolves vs Liverpool
Liverpool to win and cover the minus one handicap
Anytime goalscorer: Cody Gakpo
Liverpool lost to one of the weakest Premier League teams on Tuesday. They will need to respond with an emphatic win or Arne Slot will be sacked.
SATURDAY

Wrexham vs Chelsea
Both teams to score, over 3.5 goals, Chelsea to qualify
The Wrexham Hollywood story is beautiful. While the team co-owned by Rob McElhenny and Ryan Reynolds has a real chance at promotion to the English Premier League, their FA Cup journey will end here. Chelsea will need to put in a performance of note after numerous losses under young manager, Liam Rosenior.
Newcastle vs Manchester City
Newcastle to win, Harvey Barnes to score or assist
We might be fans of the Toon Army and while they have played more matches this season than any team in Europe, they tend to be solid at home vs teams that are stronger than them. Newcastle is not going to qualify for Europe via the Premier League but if they win the FA Cup, they will be playing against Europe’s best next season.
Bundesliga
HSV vs Bayer Leverkusen
Both teams to score, Leverkusen to win
Bayer Leverkusen has struggled after selling Florian Wirtz and losing their manager Xabi Alonso. Alonso should have stayed at the club instead of wasting his time at Real Madrid. However Die Werkself should have enough against a resilient but limited Rothosen.
NBA
Celtics vs Mavericks
Boston to win by at least 10 points
The Boston Celtics will win the NBA Championship this year. We aren’t at the playoff stage yet, but Boston is looking to annihilate any team which they play.
Formula One
Max Verstappen to upset George Russell and claim first on the podium.
Fastest Lap – Charles Leclerc
While the upcoming Formula One season is set to be one of the closest in decades, Max Verstappen is the most talented racer on any track and he should have enough to win the opening race of the season after he lost out on a fifth Drivers’ Championship so narrowly to Lando Norris last year.
